Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness eLearning

This one hour online course is designed to help school staff recognise and respond appropriately to allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, within educational settings. It supports schools working to meet the strengthened allergy safety expectations set out in the statutory guidance in line with Benedict's Law, which applies to schools in England from September 2026.

The course can be completed at any time and is well suited to whole staff training. Because the guidance expects allergy awareness training to reach every member of staff who is present when pupils are on site, and to be refreshed regularly, online learning offers a practical way to train large numbers of staff and to keep new, supply and cover staff up to date throughout the year.

The statutory guidance (Allergy safety in schools, 2026) is clear that first aid training on its own is not sufficient to meet the allergy awareness requirement.

This course is designed to address that requirement directly, giving all staff a shared understanding of allergy risk and emergency response.

Who is the Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness course for?

This course is suitable for all school staff who are required to undertake allergy awareness training in line with Benedict's Law.

That includes teachers, teaching assistants and support staff, as well as catering staff, supply and peripatetic staff, agency workers and regular volunteers. It is also ideal for schools that want a straightforward way to train their whole team and to build allergy awareness into staff induction.

No prior qualification is required, and the course covers each topic in a clear and accessible way.

Many schools choose to combine this online course with our onsite Allergy Awareness Training, using practical, in person sessions for their core team and eLearning to achieve complete whole staff coverage.
