Level 3 Paediatric First Aid Ofsted/ EYFS Compliant (Classroom Day + E-Learning)

From September 2025, the new EYFS statutory framework makes Paediatric First Aid training mandatory for all childcare providers, including nurseries, schools, and childminders.

This accredited Level 3 course ensures full compliance with the updated EYFS requirements and equips staff with the confidence to handle any paediatric emergency. Delivered through flexible blended learning (self-paced online study + one practical classroom day), this course combines convenience with hands-on training.

Course Requirements
  • No prior first aid knowledge needed
  • Minimum age 14 years
  • Physically able** to carry out practical elements
  • Comfortable clothing recommended
  • A smartphone or tablet is required to scan QR codes for the test

What You'll Learn

This course covers everything you need to provide safe, effective, and confident paediatric first aid.

Emergency Response

  • Understanding the role of a Paediatric First Aider
  • Scene assessment, prioritising actions, and calling for help
  • Communicating effectively with children & carers
  • DR ABC (Primary & Secondary Survey)
  • Recording and reporting incidents

CPR, AED & Recovery Position

  • Infant & child CPR practice with manikins
  • Correct AED use on paediatric casualties
  • Knowing when to start and stop CPR
  • Recovery position for infants & children, including breathing checks

Choking & Medical Emergencies

  • Practical choking response for babies, children & adults
  • Recognising and treating seizures: febrile, absence, focal, generalised
  • Post seizure care and ongoing monitoring

Wounds, Bleeding & Shock

  • Treating common injuries: grazes, cuts, bruises, nosebleeds, splinters, burns
  • Managing severe bleeding
  • Optional: tourniquet and wound packing (trainer dependent)
  • Recognising and treating shock & life-threatening injuries (internal bleeding, amputations, chest wounds)
